WE GROW SUSTAINABLY
WE DESIGN FOR THE FUTURE.
Spinder Design has been around for half a century. We are certainly not from yesterday.
We also see what unfriendly consumption does to our environment.
That is why, as we grow, we consider the effects this growth has on the planet.
In addition to sustainable steel as a basic component, we only work with reusable raw materials of the highest possible quality. Our European steel and wood masters give these materials the best finish, so that our products can be used for more than a lifetime. The largest part of our collection is 100% recyclable.
CRADLE-TO-CRADLE
Sustainability takes time, but we are taking small steps at a time.
Every day we try to make sustainable decisions and investigate how we can make Spinder Design more sustainable from start to finish.
Our ultimate goal: to create a full Cradle-to-Cradle life cycle for our products.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
1. 90% of our collection is made from recyclable materials.
2. Since 2019, our packaging material has been supplied with cardboard waste.
3. Since June 2021, the building in Drachten has been equipped with solar panels.
4. Our carrier invests in zero-emission vehicles.
5. Use of materials: we have been consciously using (recycled) steel since our foundation. We do this because steel is one of the most sustainable types of materials. Steel is 100% recyclable, which means it can be used over and over again. This gives steel an eternally long lifespan without any loss of quality. In addition, it is a type of material that is not consumed, but used. Our designs are timeless and strong, which means they last for generations.
6. Our mirror glass is made of environmentally friendly glass with a Cradle to Cradle Bronze certification. Cradle to Cradle Certified® is the global standard for products that are safe, circular and responsibly made.
7. In the production process, waste of raw materials is prevented as much as possible by using everything as optimally as possible. For example: as much material as possible is cut from 1 m² of sheet steel in order to keep the "residual waste" to a minimum. In this way, every square centimetre is used.
8. Products that have been returned (for example due to transport damage) are repaired to prevent waste and reduce the amount of waste.
IRON-SOLID SOLUTIONS
This functional solution made of flexible metal was a first step towards Spinder Design's success, which extended far beyond the country's borders.
With this story our experience with (flexible) metal types began to grow. In the 60s the need for steel furniture arose and the company responded cleverly to this. This is how Spimeta (Spinder Metaal) was founded, producer of steel kitchen and camping furniture. In the early 70s the company was sold and the Spinder brothers each went their own way, one continued with Stalinrichting and the other continued in the furniture industry.
Nowadays, we work with completely different products than the chicken glasses. However, the foundation that was once laid is still present: metal plays an important role in all our products.
And after 50 years, we still have the same mission in mind: making life more beautiful, easier and more sustainable through functional solutions made of strong steel.
MARKET LEADER IN COAT RACKS & MORE
For over 50 years, Spinder Design has been strong in steel. Our experience with this sustainable material allows us to say that we are proud market leaders in the field of smart, contemporary coat racks and other hall furniture. Steel is always an important main component in this. Our goal is therefore to increase the living comfort of our customers. Every day again.

FACTORIES
-
ROMANIA
About 70% of our collection is produced in our factory in Romania. We have daily contact with our factory and because of the short lines and short distance we can deliver quickly. One of our first Spinder Design icons was already made in Romania: the Jessy coat rack.
-
THE NETHERLANDS
We want to stimulate local production and that is why two very important product series are produced in the Netherlands. Among others, our Rex coat racks and shoe racks, our Victorie clothes hangers and Fusion coat racks are made here. We are very proud of these Dutch products.
-
ITALY
The newest addition to our factories is our factory in Italy, responsible for the production of our most popular icon at the moment: the Billy shoe cabinets.
