Spider x BUDDE
In this exclusive collaboration, the Dutch furniture brand Spinder Design and the innovative German design studio BUDDE join forces to take a fresh look at hall furniture. Driven by their shared passion for top quality and sustainability, they have developed a unique collection that perfectly aligns with the wishes of the modern customer.
The result is a carefully curated line of four distinctive products: a wall hook, coat rack, mirror cabinet, and shoehorn.
Each one designed to both surprise and function.
COAT RACKS
SENSU
Discover SENSU, an innovative approach to the traditional coat rack that combines both aesthetics and functionality. Although it appears to be an artistic work of art at first glance, closer inspection reveals its practical qualities. The folded steel plate forms discreet hooks at the top, creating a convenient solution for hanging coats or bags. Inspired by the craftsmanship of traditional Japanese fans, the unique folding system creates a three-dimensional effect that casts captivating shadows on the wall, giving the space vibrancy.
MIRRORS
SONNET
Meet SONNET, a minimalist mirror cabinet with a distinctive character. The classic round shape of the mirror is complemented by a colored triangular rim on the bottom corner, making SONNET a striking design piece while simultaneously adding user-friendly functionality. The modern rim allows for convenient use of the cabinet thanks to a magnetic system. The housing is made of powder-coated steel, characterized by robustness and durability.
The large size offers storage space on three shelves, making it a very functional piece of furniture for the hallway, but also for the bathroom. The small one has three integrated hooks for hanging keys, ideal for a small hallway.
WALL HOOKS
TUBA
Playful and functional, TUBA is a contemporary hook that can be flexibly arranged on the wall in any creative composition. Made from a single dynamically bent steel tube, it offers hanging space both on the front hook and through the circular opening. The foot leaning against the wall provides additional stability. Giving unique expression to conventional hooks, TUBA is a functional eye-catcher in any hallway, kitchen or bathroom.
SHOE HORN
DON
DON is a simple and stylish shoehorn with a sleek design and ease of use. This shoehorn is made of high-quality steel with a modern matte black finish, making it durable from top to bottom. The handle of the 60 cm long shoehorn is ergonomically designed for a comfortable grip. DON makes it easy to quickly and smoothly slide into your favorite shoes. You can also conveniently mount it on the wall with the included magnetic wooden holder, making it both functional and decorative.
About the Designer
-
1. How would you describe your design approach or signature style?
Our design approach is rooted in simplicity, intuition, and a strong architectural mindset. We focus on creating objects that are both sculptural and functional: pieces that feel natural within a space yet draw attention and evoke emotion. Each design carries a sense of calm and clarity, often balanced with a playful twist.

2. How did the collaboration with Spinder Design come about?
Spinder approached us with the idea of merging their strong craftsmanship and heritage with our contemporary design language. From the first conversation, it was clear that we shared a mutual appreciation for simplicity and honest materials, making the collaboration feel very natural.
-
3. What initially appealed to you about the philosophy or aesthetics of Spinder Design?
Spinder has a timeless, industrial approach that feels authentic. Their products are made to last, with steel as the defining material, and they understand well how to translate craftsmanship into contemporary living. We saw a great opportunity to combine that DNA with our sculptural perspective.
-
4. How would you describe the unique strength or character of this collaboration?
It's the meeting of two worlds: the functional clarity of Spinder and our more conceptual, architectural perspective. Together, we created a collection that feels both minimalistic and expressive: objects that serve a clear purpose, but also have an artistic presence in the entrance of a home.
-
5. Can you walk us through the creative process, from the initial idea to the final product?
The collaboration began with a joint exploration of product typologies that would naturally align with Spinder Design's existing portfolio. We quickly identified the hallway as an interesting starting point: a category in which the brand is already well-established, but still offers room for fresh interpretations. From there, we focused on how steel, Spinder's signature material, could be shaped into forms that feel both architectural and poetic. The process was highly collaborative and iterative, with prototyping playing a central role. Each piece was refined through practical experiments to achieve structural precision while maintaining its sculptural essence. The final collection was unveiled at imm cologne 2024.

6. What is your favorite design from this collection, and why?
If we had to pick just one, it would be the SENSU coat rack. At first glance, it looks more like a sculptural wall object than a functional item: an understated statement that arouses curiosity. Only upon closer inspection does its practical side reveal itself: the folded steel plate forms subtle hooks at the top, offering an elegant and convenient place to hang coats or bags. We appreciate how SENSU balances art and function, embodying the essence of our collaboration with Spinder Design.
